Private Sessions

Private one on one sessions are recommended for those who prefer faster results, those who have more extreme pain or tightness, or those with long term postural problems that need individualized attention. Clients report immediate improvement and change as they begin to regain voluntary control over muscles that have become involuntarily contracted.

Martha will assess your posture and gait, and pinpoint postural patterns you may not be aware of.  During the movement lesson, you lie on a low table and are guided through specific movement patterns designed to reverse your specific pattern of contracted muscles (Sensory Motor Amnesia) involved in your pain pattern.  With hands on help, you will retrain your brain to sense which muscles are involved in your pain, then methodically lengthen and relax them.  This approach improves the brain's function of your muscles and movement while releasing pain for the long term. These custom session are based on your particular needs, history of muscular pain and movement habits.

At the end of each session you are given a series of gentle, easy movement patterns to be done at home daily. Don't worry that you will forget how to do them; each new client receives an audio practice CD that guides you through your daily routine. These exercises, when done regularly, reinforce the progress achieved in each session and increase your ability to become self-monitoring, self-correcting and self-healing.  The exercises take only a few minutes a day, yet they are the key to long term positive change in your body.  Daily practice will also help to prevent the recurrence of your original problem.

Because you will be moving during the sessions, you should wear loose, comfortable clothing for ease of movement.

It is important that you make a commitment to your own self-care program, because ultimately YOU are the only person who can fix your muscular problems!
