Those who prefer faster results should consider private sessions. Clients report improvement and change from the start, as they begin to regain voluntary control over muscles that have become involuntarily contracted. These patterns of muscular holding can cause pain and disability.
Private, individual sessions are also ideal for those who have more extreme pain or tightness, or deeper long term postural misalignments that need individualized attention. You are actively involved in the sessions as you lie on a low table and are guided through gentle, easy, specific movement patterns designed to help you recognize, relax and reverse the pattern of involuntarily contracted muscles (Sensory Motor Amnesia) specific to your body. These movements retrain your brain to retrain those muscles to relax and coordinate more efficiently and effectively. This in turn allows the brain to regain both sensation and control of your muscular system.
At the end of each session you are given a series of easy movement patterns to be done at home. Don't worry that you will forget how to do them; each new client receives an audio practice CD that talks you through your daily routine. These exercises, when done regularly, reinforce the progress made in each session as you continue to improve your flexibility, reduce pain and increase your sense of self-awareness. They also help to prevent the recurrence of your original problem.
Because you will be moving during the sessions, you should wear loose, comfortable clothing for ease of movement.
It is important that you make a commitment to your own self-care program, as ultimately YOU are the only person who can fix your muscular problems! The exercises take only a few minutes a day, yet they are the key to long term positive change in your body.
